Tricia Boland-Web_CWelcome to my eportfolio site.  I originally designed this site as part of my graduate work at George Mason University’s M.Ed. program in Instructional Design and Technology (IDT).  I chose to return to graduate school at George Mason to gain a more in-depth understanding of learning technologies, while pursuing a career change that combines my passions for technology and adult learning, and building on my previous Masters in Information Systems experience.

The field of Instructional Design and Technology offers unique opportunities to combine technical, analytical and project management experience with creativity and innovation to provide strategic technology-enabled learning programs for diverse audiences.  As a result of my experiences in this program and the continued support from colleagues and professors, I am enjoying my work, integrating instructional theories and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning.

Currently, I am a Program Manager for a consulting firm specializing in developing custom online and instructor-led workforce training programs.  I work directly with clients to improve their business operations, design custom training courses to enhance work performance, and lead teams on software development projects. Previously, as a small business owner providing IT project management services, my teams focused on understanding client  business operations, identifying their requirements and implementing practical strategies to meet their goals.

For volunteer work, I support the STEM for Her Foundation, serving as a Board member and Director of Technology, promoting STEM-related educational programs to middle and high school girls, as well as college women in the DC metro area.   As a member of the Founders Society for the Children’s Science Center, I enjoy supporting their STEM outreach programs for children from pre-school to high school, the Science Lab facility in Fairfax, VA and a future full-scale interactive science museum in Dulles, VA.  For global education initiatives, I support Masinyusane Inc., a non-profit providing educational programs to empower children, adults and communities in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
