Growth in University Online Courses

University Students Between Lectures

According to the 2015 Survey of Online Learning by the Babson Survey Research Group, more than one in four (approx 28%) students are have taken at least one distance education course, a 3.9% increase from last year.   Other key findings note that public institutions are the largest portion of distance learners and only 29.1% of faculty support the value of online education.

Despite the disruption to traditional classroom experiences, higher education institutions have recognized growth in online programs and the need for long-term strategies.  This will require quality instructional design, learning strategies and innovative online technologies to effectively meet the demand.
